Coronation Street Death Twist: Beloved Dog Cerberus Dies Next Week

Coronation Street is set to air a heartbreaking death next week as beloved canine Cerberus is killed off. The tragedy unfolds after Evelyn Plummer notices her dog is unwell and rushes him to the vets, where he is diagnosed with kidney failure.

The storyline begins when Evelyn observes Cerberus refusing his food. At the vets, she is told it could be food poisoning, prompting tests. Evelyn later confronts Roy Cropper, who admits he dropped an eccles cake in the café earlier that week, which Cerberus may have eaten. The cake's ingredients are potentially poisonous to dogs.

Evelyn tells Roy she will never forgive him if anything happens to Cerberus. Sadly, the vet later confirms the dog is suffering from kidney failure, with no treatment possible. Evelyn is forced to say an emotional goodbye as Cerberus dies.

In the aftermath, Roy blames himself for the incident, while Evelyn brands his café a "death trap." Roy tells his niece Nina he is getting rid of his phone, believing that if he had not been distracted, he would never have dropped the cake and Cerberus might still be alive.

Cerberus's death comes ahead of Evelyn's departure from the cobbles, as actress Maureen Lipman takes a break to perform a one-woman show, Rose, at the West End later this year. However, she is expected to return to the soap.

Coronation Street airs Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
