Corriedale Fans Demand Deleted Scenes After Historic Soap Crossover
Corriedale fans plead for deleted crossover scenes

Devoted soap fans have issued a final, passionate plea to television executives following the groundbreaking crossover episode between Coronation Street and Emmerdale. The special, which aired on Monday evening, 6th January 2026, saw characters from the two iconic ITV serials collide in a dramatic car crash on a dark country road, creating a historic television event dubbed 'Corriedale'.

The Fan Vote and the Missing Scenes

In the lead-up to the episode, viewers were given a unique opportunity to shape the content. They voted for which pair of characters they most wanted to see meet from a selection of four duos: Carla Connor and Charity Dingle, Sam Dingle and Kirk Sutherland, Ross Barton and Tracy Barlow, and Nicola King and Roy Cropper. The scene featuring Charity Dingle (Emma Atkins) and Carla Connor (Alison King) emerged victorious, with their tense encounter in a hospital lift making the final cut.

However, this has left fans desperate to see the interactions that didn't win the public vote. While a short clip of Sam Dingle (James Hooton) and Kirk Sutherland (Andy Whyment) has been released online, a campaign is now underway on social media for the remaining scenes. One fan on X implored: "need them to upload the other scenes that didn’t win the vote now," while another made a "one last request to have a reel of deleted scenes".

The Hilarious Deleted Clip That Has Fans Talking

The released snippet featuring Sam and Kirk has already become a fan favourite for its classic comedy. The scene shows the pair bewildered by a hospital map, with Kirk explaining he's lost the people he was giving a lift to in his van. The conversation takes a turn when Sam mentions his family, the Dingles, prompting Kirk to incredulously repeat the surname: "Dingle? You're called Dingle? Dingle!"

The humour escalates when the camera reveals Kirk has smuggled his pet dachshund, Peanut, into the hospital, much to Sam's concern. Viewers have flooded social media with praise for the clip, with one calling it "hilarious" and another on Reddit stating: "Kirk is the only character who would plausibly bring a dog to a hospital!" Many are questioning why such a gem was left on the cutting room floor.

Is There Hope for More Footage?

The campaign for the unseen 'Corriedale' material is not without precedent. ITV has previously released alternative content to fans, most notably in 2014 when four different endings were filmed for the murder of Coronation Street's Tina McIntyre. While Rob Donovan was established as the killer, audiences were later treated to online clips showing how the scene would have played out with Carla, Tracy, or Peter Barlow as the culprit.

This history gives fans hope that their calls for the Ross and Tracy and Nicola and Roy scenes could be answered. The overwhelming positive response to the crossover special, hailed by some as the "greatest hour of TV I've ever seen", adds weight to the argument for releasing extra content as a thank you to the dedicated viewer base.

The full 'Corriedale: Backstage Pass' is available to stream on ITVX and YouTube.
