Tim Metcalfe (Joe Duttine) is left reeling in Coronation Street as his cousin Richie (Nathan Sussex) reveals his true colours, demanding Tim back up his self-defence story after the murder of his wife Rachel.
Tim's Nightmare Unfolds
It was supposed to be a simple lads' night for Tim and Richie, but things took a dark turn when Richie, kicked out by Rachel for getting drunk, stayed over. Sally (Sally Dynevor) reluctantly allowed it, but insisted he leave the next day.
Tim convinced Richie to go home and make amends, but later found Richie's wallet down the side of the couch. When he went to return it, he discovered Richie covered in blood and Rachel's dead body in the back room.
Richie's Demand
This week, Tim and Sally deal with the fallout of Richie's arrest. His daughter Lucy (Anya Dewin) is traumatised, lashing out constantly. Then Tim receives a visiting order: Richie wants to see him.
In the prison visiting room, Richie is blunt: he wants Tim to back up his self-defence story. Tim refuses, and Richie explodes, blaming Tim for convincing him to return home after the argument.
Tim's Dilemma
Tim is shaken to the core and faces an enormous decision: will he lie to help Richie escape a prison sentence?
