Three Coronation Street favourites have landed roles in the new BBC legal drama The Split Up, a spin-off from Nicola Walker's The Split. The series centres on a British South Asian family law practice, The Kishans, operating in Manchester.
The programme broadcast its third instalment on Sunday night, with all episodes also available for streaming on BBC iPlayer. The BBC has previously announced that the six-episode series will explore "the high-stakes world of Manchester's divorce law circuit, where one family of lawyers, the Kishans, reigns supreme".
Cast and Characters
Ritu Arya portrays Aria Kishan, an ambitious solicitor poised to follow in her father Dhruv's (Sanjeev Bhaskar) footsteps and take over the family firm. While navigating considerable professional demands, she and her two siblings are concurrently dealing with the heartbreaking death of their mother, Raina.
Simultaneously, Aria's sister Maya (Aysha Kala) becomes embroiled in her own divorce battle, while Aria approaches matrimony - until an old love interest resurfaces, forcing her to reassess everything. As long-buried family secrets slowly come to light, the Kishans' carefully constructed existence starts to crumble, with everything they hold dear at stake.
Coronation Street Alumni in The Split Up
Debbie Rush, who portrayed Anna Windass between 2008 and 2018, takes on the role of legal secretary Linda Taylor. Meanwhile, Angela Lonsdale portrays solicitor Eleanor in the BBC drama. Coronation Street enthusiasts will remember that Angela, 58, played police officer Emma on the cobbles between 2000 and 2003, where she featured alongside the much-loved character Curly Watts.
Charlie de Melo, who portrayed Imran Habeeb from 2017 to 2022, takes on the role of Vivek Gupta in The Split Up.

On Instagram, former Anna Windass actress Debbie has posted photographs from her stint on the programme, commending the "amazing" ensemble. Ex-Corrie star Angela has likewise shared images, celebrating the "brilliant bunch" she worked with, urging viewers: "Get all over it! You'll love it!".
