Coronation Street actress Cait Fitton has hinted at a significant character transformation for her alter ego Lauren Bolton, following recent episodes that suggested the character might leave Weatherfield. Speaking exclusively to The Mirror, Fitton teased that Lauren is 'a completely different person' after her traumatic experiences.
In Friday's episode, Lauren told Joel Deering she needed to get away from Weatherfield as soon as possible, asking about flights and arrangements. She threatened to expose him if he didn't stick to their deal, after she had falsely told DS Swain that Nathan Curtis was her attacker. Lauren returned from the dead months after a brutal attack, with Joel later revealed as the real perpetrator.
Fitton promised 'lots of things coming up' and described the storyline as 'very juicy going forward'. She added: 'There's so many more twists and turns to come.' The actress confirmed Lauren would be part of the fallout, indicating significant screen time ahead. 'Trauma changes everyone... Lauren is not the same girl who left,' she said.
Meanwhile, Dee-Dee Bailey actress Channique Sterling-Brown teased a 'catalyst of events' as Joel's lies unravel. She told The Mirror: 'What is in the dark always comes to light. We will get to the point where Dee-Dee starts to have an understanding of Joel's true colours.' She predicted a 'catalyst of events' once the truth emerges.
