In Friday's episode of Coronation Street, Daisy Midgley (Charlotte Jordan) leaves stepmother Jenny Connor (Sally Ann Matthews) stunned by refusing to reveal the result of a DNA test that would determine the father of her unborn baby.
Daisy, who recently discovered she is pregnant, has been hiding that she slept with ex-boyfriend Daniel Osbourne (Rob Mallard) just before Christmas. This leaves uncertainty over whether Daniel or Kit Green (Jacob Roberts) is the father.
After causing turmoil by announcing her pregnancy in the Rovers Return, Daisy was taken to hospital with pain, where Kit softened upon seeing a scan image. However, when the DNA test results arrive, Daisy deletes the email without reading it, insisting that the father's identity is irrelevant because she is the mother.
Jenny is left shocked as Daisy declares the result will remain a secret. But in Weatherfield, secrets rarely stay hidden for long.
Charlotte Jordan is among several cast members set to leave Coronation Street this year, following recent departures of Sue Cleaver, Colson Smith, and Shelley King.
