Corrie star confirms Jodie's fate: 'Not going to go well'

Coronation Street star Olivia Frances Brown has confirmed that things are 'not going to go well' for Jodie Ramsey, amid mounting speculation about the character's future on the cobbles.

Jodie has been a figure of distrust ever since her first appearance in January. The ITV soap, filmed in Salford, saw her arrive in the aftermath of the dramatic multi-vehicle crash involving characters from Weatherfield and Emmerdale. She was found tied up in the back of a van driven by Dales returnee Graham Foster, before being injured during her escape. Taken to hospital, she was reunited with her long-lost sister, Shona Platt.

Jodie's growing plans

After Shona's frosty reception, David invited Jodie to stay at No.8 Coronation Street. Viewers are hoping he will soon realise it was a mistake, as an upcoming showdown is set to leave a casualty when a gunshot rings out.

Having previously tried to come between Shona and David, Jodie is now escalating her efforts to take over her sister's life. It has recently become clear she is trying to convince Shona and her loved ones that she is suffering from post-natal depression while struggling with baby Harper. Nothing appears to be stopping Jodie from getting her own way, with not only Shona in her firing line but also their dad, Doug Ramsey, who recently returned to the cobbles after last being seen in hospital.

Star speaks out

Speaking exclusively to the Manchester Evening News at the Inside Soap Awards 2026, held in Manchester for the first time, Olivia was asked about Jodie being a complex character. She replied: "I don't know if anybody will ever know what to make of Jodie, if I'm being completely honest."

She admitted it is not a bad character to play. "It's always a lot of fun, because you just don't know what she's going to do next," she added. "When I found out that I was joining the Platt family, I was just thrilled, because they are, in my opinion, the best family. They're just iconic, aren't they? And to work with them is so much fun as well, genuinely."

What lies ahead

Asked what is ahead for Jodie, Olivia teased: "If people think that she's been bad so far, then I dread to think what they're going to think after the next few months are over because she's just... It's not going to go well for her. And she is going to repent for her sins. She is going to pay the price."

In upcoming scenes, Jodie will make her next attempt to remove her sister from the picture. Convinced she is owed her own shot at happiness, she shamelessly tells David that he "deserves someone that will treat you right."
