Coronation Street next week sees a shooting in Weatherfield, Kit Green confesses the truth about his health, and Summer Spellman makes a hospital dash after a surprise call.
David Platt reveals that Doug Ramsey, Shona Platt and Jodie Ramsey's dad, has swiped both the toaster and the biscuit tin. Jodie plays it down, assuring him that Doug probably just needs his meds tweaked.
Shona confides in Bethany Platt that she's worried about her own mental state, as she often hears Harper crying when she isn't there.
Doug's assessment and a family feud
When Jodie calls Doug's doctor and accuses him of being a danger to the family, the mental health team arrives to assess him. Shona tearfully tells Doug how sorry she is, but as he is led away, he warns Shona to watch her back where Jodie is concerned. Bethany later catches Jodie red-handed, but Jodie has her own plan to keep Bethany quiet.
As Jodie returns home with Shona's birthday cake, she finds Shona frantically searching the living room. Shona explains she heard the crying again, but it sounded like a recording rather than the real thing. As David and Jodie decorate the bistro for Shona's birthday party, Lily Platt arrives.
When Lily's phone is plugged into the docking station, the room suddenly fills with Harper's crying. Shona accuses Lily of recording Harper's crying to convince her she was losing her mind. Swearing she has no idea how the crying got onto her phone, an upset Lily flees the party.
A gunshot rings out
A flashforward takes viewers to No.8, where the living room is strewn with someone's belongings as a paramedic tends to a casualty on the floor. Back in the present day, a family feud between Shona and Jodie reaches its breaking point, accusations fly, and secrets are exposed, pushing one of them to their limit. When a weapon is drawn, the situation spirals into chaos, and a gunshot rings out. As the dust settles, one person lies stricken, and the family is left reeling in horror.
As the week draws to a close, David calls an ambulance and explains someone has been shot. The paramedics arrive together with the firearms officer. At Weatherfield police station, DC McLaughlin tells DS Lisa Connor-Swain that Kit has called in sick for the third time this week. When Lisa receives a report of a shooting on Coronation Street, she hurries out. In the Rovers, Kevin Webster and Ronnie Bailey discuss the shooting at No.8 and wonder if it was the gun that belonged to Fiona Morley, which was never found. Lisa questions David about the shooting.
Kit's cancer revelation
In the hospital chemo room, the nurse talks Kit through the side effects of his treatment and urges him to speak to his boss, as he won't be fit for work. Kit calls at the station to find Lisa furiously typing up her notes. Lisa rounds on him for failing to answer his calls, but when Kit reveals he's got cancer, Lisa is stunned. Lisa then promises Kit that she and the force will support him anyway they can.
Elsewhere, Christina Boyd watches as Lucy Parkinson heads towards No.4. George Shuttleworth urges caution, but Christina ignores him and, putting on a smile, heads over. Later, Sally Metcalfe calls at the café and is unimpressed to find Lucy bunking off school and enjoying a drink with Christina. Sally orders Lucy home and parks herself opposite Christina. Sally agrees to speak to social services and take their advice, but spells out to Christina that until then, she must keep her distance, as Lucy is a vulnerable child.
At the undertakers, George and Todd Grimshaw are thrown into panic when they discover Rachel Parkinson's ashes have gone, and there's no sign of Christina. George finds Christina sitting on the swings in the precinct, clutching the urn containing Rachel's ashes. When George assures her they'll find their own way to honour Rachel, Christina hands it over. George hands Christina a photo frame containing two pictures: one of Rachel and one of Daisy Midgley, leaving his partner deeply moved.
Summer's hospital dash and Sam's theft
Summer takes a call informing her that Marco Rhodes has been involved in a car accident. As Summer hurries into A&E, PC Jess Heywood approaches and explains Marco was involved in a car crash in which he was the getaway driver. Later, in the shop, a despondent Summer reveals Marco was denied bail. When Alya Nazir, Asha Alahan and Todd suggest she's better off without him, Summer shoots them daggers. When Summer receives a visiting order from Marco in prison, Todd does his best to hide his misgivings and offers her a lift.
Sam Blakeman calls at Speed Daal after school, where Leanne Battersby tells him that to prove how much she trusts him, she'd like him to work in the restaurant. It's not long before Sam spies Idris Nazir's credit card lying on a table, and he soon emerges from Speed Daal clutching it. Later, Sam settles himself at a table and is about to enter Idris's card details into the crypto app when Idris appears behind him. Idris retrieves his bank card from Sam, and deeply embarrassed, Sam explains he was hoping to make enough money to pay him back and pay off his debt to Nick Tilsley.
