Ryan Connor (Ryan Prescott) is plunged into panic when he finds Betsy Swain (Sydney Martin) lifeless on her kitchen floor in an upcoming Coronation Street episode. The troubled teen, who recently recovered from the trauma of her mother Becky Swain's (Amy Cudden) obsession and the discovery of Theo Silverton's (James Cartwright) body at her mothers' wedding, now faces a new health crisis.
Ryan's Unfortunate Discovery
Ryan, who works at the Chariot Hotel, has a knack for being in the wrong place at the wrong time. He was previously the victim of an acid attack intended for Daisy Midgeley (Charlotte Jordan) by her stalker Justin Rutherford (Andrew Still). He has also been caught up in Theo Silverton's murder investigation, brutally assaulted during Carl Webster's (Jonathan Howard) robbery, and forced to date local bunny-boiler Jodie Ramsey (Olivia Frances-Brown). Now, he stumbles upon Betsy's collapse, rushing her to the hospital.
In a video sneak peek of the upcoming episode, Betsy's distraught stepmother Carla Connor (Alison King) rushes through the hospital corridors in a first-person shot. A shaken Ryan meets her in reception, swearing he had no idea what happened to Betsy and revealing he found her on the kitchen floor. He adds that the tap was still on, suggesting she collapsed. Unable to comprehend, Carla recalls Betsy was fine that morning and was laughing.
Blame and Investigation
As Carla begins to babble, Ryan does his best to calm her down and promises to take her to Betsy. Fans already know that Betsy's life is about to be turned upside down by a shocking medical condition. An MRI scan will shed light on exactly what is wrong with her, while Betsy's mother Lisa Connor-Swain (Vicky Myers) rages at her daughter's boyfriend Dylan Wilson (Liam McCheyne). Lisa blames Dylan for what happened and threatens to have him arrested, while Dylan's father Sean Tully (Antony Cotton) tries to defend his son.
The situation escalates as Lisa gets Dylan arrested, but Dylan is sure to fight back. The question remains: is Dylan truly to blame? One thing is for sure, Ryan will regret getting caught up in the middle of this drama.
