Coronation Street star Lucy Fallon has revealed an awkward encounter in a nail salon, where a stranger criticised her character Bethany Platt's appearance without realising she was speaking to the actress herself.
The 22-year-old took to Twitter to share the embarrassing moment, explaining that a woman told her she looked like Bethany, only for another to Google the character and remark: 'Oh god no you don't look like that... she looks dog rough and has a fat head.'
Fallon, who won Best Serial Drama Performance at the National Television Awards last month, took the comments in good humour, joking that her self-esteem was 'in tatters on the floor'. She added that she playfully told the stranger she had met the real Bethany, who was a 'proper cow'.
The actress has been at the centre of a lap-dancing storyline on the ITV soap, which she became involved in to reassert authority after her character fell victim to a grooming gang.
Fallon has also kept coy about her future with boyfriend Tom Leech, often keeping her ring finger hidden when spotted out and about.
