Coronation Street Secrets: Actors Avoided Water to Look Buff, Reveals Ex-Star
Corrie Secrets: Actors Avoided Water for Buff Look

Tony Hirst, who played Paul Kershaw on Coronation Street from 2010 to 2013, has lifted the lid on backstage secrets viewers never see. The actor, who also appeared in Hollyoaks, shared that soap stars often go to extreme lengths for scenes.

Soap Acting Is 'Seriously Hard Work'

Speaking on behalf of Betway Insider, Hirst said: "I feel like soap acting doesn't get the credit it deserves. It's seriously hard work." He explained that the fast pace requires quick thinking and minimal direction, with actors juggling multiple scripts shot out of order.

The Nude Scene and Water Avoidance

Hirst recalled a Full Monty-style scene on Coronation Street where cast members had to be naked. "Some of the younger lads purposefully didn't drink water for two days beforehand so they wouldn't be bloated, and others were in the gym, trying to look as buff as possible," he revealed.
