Coronation Street: Ross' Downfall Sealed After Cassie Clue
Corrie: Ross' Downfall Sealed After Cassie Clue

Coronation Street fans are set for a Cassie Plummer mention following Monday's dramatic twist. Ross Wilkes, portrayed by Ian Burfield, recently made his entrance on the cobbles as the long-lost estranged father of Tyrone Dobbs. Before his surprise appearance, Cassie had encountered him at the Chariot Square Hotel bar, where he subjected her to a torrent of verbal abuse before she suddenly recognised who he was.

Ross's Manipulation and Threats

Since his arrival, Ross has gradually wormed himself into Tyrone's life and that of his grandchildren, even embarking on a romance with Tracy Barlow, much to Cassie's fury. Matters came to a head last week when the family threw Ross a birthday party, prompting Cassie to reveal the shocking truth - that Ross had paid her for sex when she was just 15, resulting in her falling pregnant with Tyrone.

In the wake of the bombshell revelation, Ross threatened to kill Cassie should she meddle in his life again. Earlier this week, Cassie attempted to spike Ross's drink so he would fail a drugs test for a new job, forcing him to leave Weatherfield for good, reports the Daily Star.

The Twist and Cassie's Disappearance

However, Ross cottoned on to Cassie's scheme and switched the drink, leaving Tracy to consume it instead. She was subsequently rushed to hospital, causing Cassie's family to turn against her despite her protestations of innocence. Left with no other option, Cassie made the decision to leave Weatherfield, saying her farewells and departing with a photograph of Tyrone and his children along with her belongings.

Before departing though, Ross offered Cassie a lift in his vehicle and subsequently admitted to her that he was responsible for poisoning Tracy. In a chilling twist of events, Ross secured the car door with Cassie inside and drove off to an undisclosed destination. Later in the soap, Ross returned to Tyrone's claiming he hadn't noticed Cassie had gone and it was then discovered he possessed the photograph of Tyrone and the children.

Fiz's Suspicion and Possible Rescue

Soap viewers have understandably been left worried for Cassie and spoilers for later this week include a reference to the character. In forthcoming scenes, Ross announces that he's heading to the prison for his first day in the new role. Tyrone's wife Fiz is distant towards him and makes it clear that she misses Cassie.

Could Fiz work out what Ross has done and be the one to rescue Cassie, leading to the villain's downfall? Coronation Street airs on weeknights at 8:30pm on ITV and ITV X.
