Ross Wilkes, played by Ian Burfield, revealed his sinister side on Friday's Coronation Street as he blackmailed Cassie Plummer. The new character, who debuted on the ITV soap this week as the long-lost father of Tyrone Dobbs, turned nasty after Cassie failed to recognize him and drunkenly flirted with him in the hotel bar.
Ross's Threat to Cassie
After Cassie realized Ross's identity from his bar receipt, they came face-to-face again when Ross met Tyrone. Tyrone rejected Ross, telling him he didn't need a father after 40-plus years. Instead of trying harder, Ross bumped into Cassie in the shop and blackmailed her over their bar encounter. He threatened to tell Cassie's partner Steve McDonald and Tyrone that she made a pass at him, demanding she help change Tyrone's mind about a relationship.
Cassie's Fear and Exit
Cassie was alarmed by Ross's threat, hinting at unknown history between them. With Cassie set to leave the soap this year and Ross linked to her exit, speculation grows that he may turn Tyrone against her. Cassie was so rattled that she left the room when alone with Ross and Tyrone. Spoilers for next week reveal Cassie tries to warn people about Ross, but he takes action, threatening her again as the blackmail continues. Cassie faces a decision: confess to Steve or risk rejection by Tyrone.
Coronation Street airs weeknights at 8:30pm on ITV1 and ITV X.
