Fiz Dobbs (Jennie McAlpine) has become the latest Coronation Street resident to see through Ross Wilkes (Ian Burfield), and she has vowed to expose him if he puts a foot wrong. Despite Ross fooling Tyrone Dobbs (Alan Halsall) and Tracy Barlow (Kate Ford) with his charm, Fiz is not buying his act.
Cassie's desperate exit
Cassie Plummer (Claire Sweeney) had tried to warn her family about Ross from the moment he arrived, but he always talked his way out of trouble. Her plan to get rid of him backfired when Tracy ended up in hospital after drinking a drugged smoothie, destroying Cassie's relationships with Tyrone and Steve McDonald (Simon Gregson). Feeling rejected, Cassie accepted a job on a cruise ship to escape the cobbles.
'She feels she has absolutely no choice,' actress Claire Sweeney said. 'She has been rejected by the love of her life, Steve, and everyone else has turned their backs on her. She feels her life there has been destroyed.'
However, Cassie's fate remains unclear as she was last seen being driven off in Ross's car.
Fiz's warning
In tonight's episode, Steve lamented missing his chance to make amends with Cassie, noting she seemed to have blocked him. When Ross arrived at the pub, Steve confronted him about where he had taken Cassie. Ross initially denied it, but when Steve mentioned seeing them drive away, Ross admitted he had dropped her at Manchester Piccadilly station.
Later, alone with Fiz, Ross faced a darker atmosphere as she dropped her friendly pretence. She called out his lies to Steve and his surprise at Cassie's departure. Fiz said she would let the inconsistencies slide for now but warned Ross that if he stepped out of line, she would ensure he was cast out for good.
