Jodie Ramsey (Olivia Frances-Brown) is poised to make her next move in Coronation Street next week, turning her attention to a heartbroken Kit Green (Jacob Roberts) following his shock split from Sarah Platt (Tina O’Brien).
Kit has been doing everything he can to help Sarah as she prepares to stand trial for the murder of Theo Silverton (James Cartwright), but despite his efforts, she’s convinced there’s only one way to protect him.
Sarah ends it to save Kit
In emotional scenes, Sarah tells Kit she loves him, but that’s exactly why they can’t be together. Fearing he’ll sacrifice everything for her, Sarah insists their relationship is over because she can’t bear the thought of him throwing away the career he’s worked so hard for.
The decision leaves Kit devastated. Unable to deal with the heartbreak, Kit reaches for the vodka and admits that Sarah has dumped him. But while he’s drowning his sorrows, someone else is paying very close attention.
Jodie makes her move
Jodie overhears the conversation and is immediately intrigued by Kit’s situation. Although he gives her short shrift when she first tries to speak to him, she isn’t put off for long. Later, she catches up with him on the street and tries a different approach.
Declaring that there’s nothing worse than a broken heart, Jodie offers to buy Kit a pizza, hoping to cheer him up after his split from Sarah. It sounds like an innocent gesture, but with Jodie’s track record, viewers are bound to question whether she’s genuinely trying to help or simply sees an opportunity to get closer to a vulnerable Kit.
The big question is whether Kit will let his guard down.
Kit’s turmoil over Sarah’s case
The scenes come after Kit has found himself torn between his feelings for Sarah and his responsibilities as a detective. This week, he became convinced that finding the murder weapon could be Sarah’s only hope and told Bethany Platt (Lucy Fallon) he planned to search the wasteground.
Bethany struggled with the idea, knowing Gary Windass (Mikey North) helped Sarah after Theo’s death and fearing Kit’s investigation could destroy Gary’s life in the process. Later, Kit confronted Gary with a brutal ultimatum. Either he hands himself in or Kit will send a search team to recover the murder weapon, a discovery that could leave Gary facing a lengthy prison sentence.
With Sarah refusing to let Kit risk his career for her, their relationship becomes another casualty of the ongoing murder case.
Is Kit walking into a trap?
That heartbreak could leave Kit exactly where Jodie wants him. Jodie has never been afraid to exploit a weakness, and with Kit emotionally drained and struggling to process Sarah’s decision, he may be more susceptible than ever to someone offering a friendly shoulder to lean on.
Whether she’s genuinely interested in Kit or simply sees him as her latest pawn remains to be seen, but one thing’s for sure: she’s wasting no time making her move. Will Kit see through Jodie’s act, or is he about to fall straight into her trap at the worst possible moment?
