Coronation Street viewers have taken to social media to express their reactions as the identity of Lauren Bolton's killer is finally revealed in a special week of episodes. The ITV soap is airing a unique format, showing the same day through different characters' perspectives, culminating in the truth about Lauren's disappearance and death.
The storyline has seen police, led by DS Swain, convinced Lauren is dead after finding a blood-stained chair leg in her flat. Suspects have included Nathan Curtis, with Sarah Platt desperate to protect her daughter Bethany from him. The episodes also explore the consequences for Roy Cropper, who has been imprisoned.
Executive producer Iain MacLeod described the week as 'gripping and unlike anything Coronation Street has done before', calling it a 'modern, exciting' storytelling approach that serves as a launchpad for a new chapter. Fans, however, were divided on the visual style, with some complaining about a 'weird filter' and unusual camera work.
One viewer tweeted: 'Why is the colour weird? Is it a dream? #corrie', while another wrote: 'Don’t think I like this camera work ! #Corrie.' Others praised the cinematography, with one fan saying it was 'rivalling Hollyoaks'. The special episodes air alongside Britain's Got Talent semi-finals.
