Coronation Street viewers were left stunned after believing they'd spotted Pat Phelan on their TV screens again.
ITV soap viewers will know that Pat (played by Connor McIntyre) was an iconic cobbles villain, who made his first appearance back in 2013.
He was introduced as the acquaintance of builder Owen Armstrong (Ian Puleston-Davies). He later went into business with Pat, which turned out to be part of the villain's revenge plot against both Owen and Gary Windass (Mikey North).
Pat's Reign of Terror
Pat's reign of terror continued as he clashed with Gary and his mother, Anna (Debbie Rush), before committing several other crimes. He notably conned many residents out of their money, as well as causing the deaths of Michael Rodwell (Les Dennis), Luke Britton (Dean Fagan) and Andy Carver (Oliver Farnworth).
The iconic villain left the cobbles in 2018 when he was stabbed to death by Anna during a violent final showdown.
Fans Spot Resemblance in Emmerdale
Now, over eight years since his death, some Corrie fans were left speechless as they believed they'd seen Pat on screen again after tuning in to watch Emmerdale this week.
Emmerdale viewers will know that Joe Tate (Ned Porteous) was arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm after Billy Fletcher (Jay Kontzle) was attacked at the depot.
At the start of Monday's (August 3) episode, Joe was greeted by a police officer in his cell. DS Byrne (Dana Haqjoo) later carried out a police interview with Joe, who insisted that he was innocent, despite recently learning that Billy had tried to kiss his fiancée, Dawn (Olivia Bromley).
"You were heard threatening to go after Mr Fletcher directly before the attack," the officer said, with Joe admitting: "I was hurt, okay? It was in the moment, and I took it back pretty quickly."
Fans Do a Double Take
After watching the scenes, soap fans were quick to point out DS Byrne's striking resemblance to Pat Phelan.
"And I thought Pat Phelan joined another soap! It actually wasn't, but he did look like the brother of Connor McIntyre (who played him in Corrie). His name on the credits on Monday's episode was Dana Haqjoo (who played DS Byrne)," one Reddit user wrote.
Another added: "The Almighty King that was Patrick Phelan." A third fan questioned: "That's not Pat surely?" with someone else replying: "Nah, of course not, although for a second I thought he was a lookalike."
Another viewer similarly shared: "He's got those unmistakable eyes!"
Emmerdale airs weekday nights at 8pm on ITV1 and ITVX, and is followed by Coronation Street at 8.30pm.
