Coronation Street fans have joked that a new duo is set to 'take over' DS Lisa Connor-Swain and DC Kit Green as their investigation into Theo Silverton's murder continues. The two Weatherfield detectives are currently trying to get to the bottom of who killed the abuser after Lisa's daughter, Betsy Swain, discovered his lifeless body back in April.
Murder storyline unfolds
The murder storyline was first teased in February with flashforward scenes that showed Betsy being interviewed by police after finding a dead body on the night of her mother's wedding to Carla Connor. It was later revealed that Theo, Carl Webster, Jodie Ramsey, Megan Walsh, and Maggie Driscoll were potential victims. Viewers were kept guessing for weeks until April 23, when Betsy discovered Theo dead, launching a whodunnit.
Suspects and charges
Lisa and Kit have already lined up six potential suspects: Todd Grimshaw, George Shuttleworth, Summer Spellman, Christina Boyd, Gary Windass, and Danielle Silverton. Summer has since been charged with Theo's murder after evidence pointed her way, and Tyrone Dobbs lied about seeing her on the night of the killing.
New detective duo teased
Now, Corrie has teased that a new pairing could crack the case. In an Instagram video, Sydney Martin (Betsy) and Cait Fitton (Lauren Bolton) are seen sneaking around the cobbles, mimicking classic detectives. The video ends with a logo reading 'Martin & Fitton' and a magnifying glass, with 'COMING SOON' flashing on screen. The caption read: 'Coming soon... [eyes and detective emojis] #Corrie,' followed by a comment: 'The detective duo you never knew you needed.'
