Coronation Street fans doubt Sarah Platt will stay in prison for Theo Silverton's murder
Corrie fans: Sarah Platt won't stay in prison for Theo murder

Coronation Street fans are convinced that Sarah Platt will not remain in prison following her impending arrest for the murder of Theo Silverton, with many predicting that someone else will ultimately be held accountable for the crime. The character, played by Tina O'Brien, is set to be arrested next week after her secret is exposed, but viewers believe the storyline will take a twist.

Sarah's confession and arrest

Sarah Platt recently confessed to DC Kit Green that she carried out the attack that killed Theo, whose body was discovered by Betsy Swain on the night of her mother Lisa Swain's wedding to Carla Connor. The murder, which occurred in April, was initially teased in a flashforward episode in February, with Theo revealed as one of five possible victims. His death followed months of physical and mental abuse he inflicted on his husband, Todd Grimshaw.

In a special single-strand episode next week, Sarah will be left with no escape as her secret spills out, leading to her arrest for murder. The news has left fans "genuinely shocked" at the possibility of Sarah's exit from Weatherfield, but many doubt she will serve a long sentence.

Fan theories and predictions

Viewers have taken to social media to share their theories. @Emmmmmer tweeted: "Not a chance our Sarah Lou is gunna stay in prison! There's gotta be more to this #corrie." @Amylanders2025 speculated: "My guess is she thought she killed theo, but he wasn't actually dead! She left. Maybe Gary finished him off, or someone else came along before betsy found him and finished him off. So it's possible Gary and Sarah didn't do it."

@AlisonSelw60139 commented: "Kit would happily pin Theo's murder on Gary & not Sarah. He seems to ave it in for him, but Sarah needs to face wot she did like everybody else. And stays in prison for a bit but not for to long. It's obvious Sarah is gonna get away with it."

Kit Green's vendetta against Gary Windass

Many fans believe DC Kit Green's hatred of Gary Windass will drive the storyline. @sarahlawson84 shared: "Kit's hatred of Gary is gonna drive this. He now knows he can put him away, but not without exposing Sarah. Why do I have a feeling Sarah is going to become the third party bystander in her own storyline? I reckon they are going full on Kit vs Gary #Corrie."

@J_WBerry added: "... And, now Kit will be on a mission to destroy phone evidence connecting Sarah and Gary to the crime. So, that just leaves Todd in the frame, with no alibi for that night. I swear Corrie are going to arrest him soon."

Since Theo's murder, a whodunnit has been underway with multiple suspects including Todd Grimshaw, George Shuttleworth, Summer Spellman, Christina Boyd, Gary Windass, and Danielle Silverton. Kit had previously been determined to pin the crime on Gary, but his discovery of Sarah's involvement has complicated matters.

Coronation Street airs on ITV and ITVX. Viewers will see Sarah's arrest unfold in the coming week.
