Coronation Street fans are questioning whether a major return could be on the cards that would rock Carla Connor-Swain's life on the cobbles. Actress Alison King, famed for playing the fan-favourite character since her debut in 2006, is approaching her 20th anniversary on the ITV soap this December.
Things only recently started to settle down for the Underworld factory boss following her wedding to local detective Lisa Connor-Swain. The joyous scenes aired in April when, after thinking their nuptials were off following a flood at the Chariot Square Hotel, Lisa came up with a plan that saw her and Carla still able to wed.
Fans Speculate Over Peter Barlow's Return
Lisa told a disappointed Carla to get dressed and that they would have lunch at the hotel instead, with Debbie offering them a slap-up meal and free champers. However, upon their arrival, Lisa surprised her by revealing their wedding was going ahead, with Lisa's daughter Betsy, Carla's nephew Ryan Connor, and her father-figure Roy Cropper as their witnesses.
There were emotional scenes as Lisa and Carla delivered their vows to one another, before they were confirmed as wives, making them the first two women to tie the knot in the 65-year history of Corrie. But some fans have been speculating as to whether a return could be on the cards for Carla's ex-husband, Peter Barlow.
Chris Gascoyne's Social Media Post Sparks Debate
Viewers will recall that Peter left Weatherfield to set sail on a friend's boat in December 2023 following his involvement in the death of serial killer Stephen Reid, leading to a break-up with his on-screen partner, Carla. It came after actor Chris Gascoyne, who first took on the role of Peter in 2000, confirmed his departure in July of the same year, saying he wanted to pursue other projects and spend more time with his family, though the soap had suggested the door was open for his potential return.
It is Chris's latest social media post, which featured a throwback photo of himself and Alison King, that has got fans talking. The black and white photo showed the pair looking directly at the camera, both with sunglasses covering their eyes. The post also featured a number of other photos of Chris from over the years, which he captioned: "Good times with some good people! Happy Monday all."
