Coronation Street fans may recognise Sarah Platt's fellow inmate Kacey, played by actress Emma Matthews. Kacey has been getting to know Sarah (Tina O'Brien) while she is behind bars, but things took a dark turn during Wednesday's (August 17) episode.
Kacey's Threat
Kacey is aware that Sarah was in a relationship with copper Kit Green (Jacob Roberts) and she used this information against her. She told Sarah that her son has been arrested for armed robbery, and she wants Kit to help them. Sarah explained that she wasn't able to ask Kit, which led to her seeing a very different side to Kacey.
Kacey's threat about not protecting Sarah if she didn't help left her in an impossible position. During a phone call to Todd Grimshaw (Gareth Pierce), Sarah updated him and knew she'd be taking a risk if she told Kit, or any other police officer, about what Kacey had said. Todd told Sarah that if she doesn't talk to Kit, he will.
Emma Matthews' Previous Roles
If viewers think they've seen actress Emma before, they'll be right. She appeared in the soap back in 2017 as social worker Fiona Crowley, who worked on the case of Abi Webster's (Sally Carman) twins Charlie and Lexi Franklin. Emma also appeared as a nurse in Weatherfield General between 2012 and 2015.
What's Next for Sarah
Corrie spoilers for next week have revealed that Kit tells a desperate Sarah that if he were to help Kacey, he could lose his job. He also reminds her that she dumped him to stop him from ruining said career. With Kit avoiding the plea, Kacey later turns violent with Sarah. She also warns Sarah that if anything happens to her son, it'll be on her.
It comes as Corrie fans were left convinced one cast member had leaked a massive spoiler on social media this week. Lucy Fallon, who plays Sarah's daughter Bethany Platt on the soap, recently posted a snap of her and her co-star Tina O'Brien on Instagram. Some fans were left under the impression that Sarah will be out of prison in a matter of weeks, but viewers will have to wait and find out her fate as she faces trial for killing Theo.
Coronation Street airs weeknights on ITV1 at 8.30pm and is available to stream from 7am on ITVX.
