Coronation Street viewers are concerned that teacher Megan Walsh may have groomed another child after a mysterious phone call aired on Monday night. The athletics coach, played by Beth Nixon, has been having an illicit affair with 16-year-old Will Driscoll while hiding it through a relationship with colleague Daniel Osbourne.
In the episode, Megan received a call from a withheld number and reacted angrily, saying: 'I thought I told you not to call me again. Of course I meant it. Please, will you just let it go?' She then added: 'That wouldn't be a good idea for either of us. Just leave me alone, okay?'
Fans quickly speculated that the caller could be another victim, with some suggesting Sam Blakeman, the 14-year-old son of Nick Tilsley. One viewer wrote on X: 'Maybe it's Sam calling Megan... imagine the uproar if sweet innocent Sam's head had been turned by seductress Megan.' Others expressed concern for Daniel's son Bertie.
Actress Beth Nixon, who recently signed a new contract, said of her role: 'Earlier this year, my agent sent me a casting brief and explained it was for a paedophile... they're obviously not a redeemable character.' She added that the storyline could raise awareness, as 'if it’s a storyline that makes one person recognise that this is happening to them and it’s wrong, then it has done its job.'
