Corrie fans baffled by Cassie Plummer exit, ask same question

Coronation Street fans have been left baffled by Cassie Plummer's exit from Weatherfield, as it left them asking the same question.

During Monday's (August 3) episode of the ITV soap, which is filmed in Salford, Cassie was seen announcing her departure after she was cast out by her family, namely her son, Tyrone Dobbs, after her recent antics involving Ross Wilkes and, accidentally, Tracy Barlow.

Cassie's recent struggles

As viewers know, Cassie, who arrived in Weatherfield in 2023 and was revealed as the long-lost mother of mechanic Tyrone, has recently been struggling with the arrival of Ross, who was revealed as Tyrone's father after his children surprised him for his birthday by finding him through a DNA database.

Despite Cassie's clear discomfort, Tyrone has been keen to get to know his dad, and Ross has been quickly welcomed into the family. He's also been expanding his relationships elsewhere by striking up a romance with Tracy Barlow.

Cassie's attempts to expose Ross

Cassie tried to expose Ross for who he really is, as when the Dobbs' organised a little party for the newcomer, Cassie watched on in horror until she eventually snapped and revealed that Ross paid her for sex when she was just 15, resulting in her falling pregnant with Tyrone.

While horrified, it didn't deter Tyrone and Tracy from wanting Ross in their lives as he agreed to apologise to Cassie, before agreeing to a new slate. However, he later threatened her life if she were to get in between him and developing a relationship with his son.

The dramatic exit

Determined to see the back of Ross, last week, Cassie was seen spiking his drink with some of Tyrone's painkillers, only for him to spot her, swap the drinks with Tracy, who collapsed and ended up in hospital following a drug overdose.

After an emotional farewell, Cassie headed to the precinct where she planned to meet Steve, but Ross got there first and told Cassie that he'd give her a lift to the train station, before confessing that he framed her over Tracy's collapse. Cassie threatened to go to the police, but Ross wouldn't let her out of the car, and as he took off, it was the last time viewers saw her.

Fans question Cassie's fate

And it's left Corrie fans completely confused as to whether they should believe Cassie to be dead or alive following Ross' earlier threat, while others were sad to see her go and want Ross to be exposed once and for all.
