Coronation Street fans are questioning whether Eva Price is leaving the show and if she could die, after new spoilers teased her fate on the ITV soap. The character, played by Catherine Tyldesley, was attacked by Sam Blakeman after she caught him sneaking around the pub.
Sam shoved Eva, causing her to fall backwards and tumble down the cellar steps. He initially checked on her before fleeing the scene without calling for help. Debbie Webster found her but, amid her deteriorating dementia, forgot to call for help. Glenda Shuttleworth later discovered Eva and called an ambulance, staying with her.
Eva's condition worsens
Eva kept slipping in and out of consciousness, but towards the end of the episode she took a turn for the worse. Glenda cried out for Eva to "stay with her", and Eva seemed in a bad way. As the paramedics panicked over her deteriorating condition, the episode ended just as Eva appeared to pass out.
New spoilers are coy about what happens next but may give away her fate. In the next episode, after Eva is rushed to hospital, her partner Ben Driscoll sits by her bedside.
Sam's secret and a confession
With it revealed she was attacked and left for dead, no one knows Sam is to blame. Instead, Carl Webster faces accusations and is forced to protest his innocence. As the week goes on, Sam struggles to keep his secret, with Ben heard telling Kevin Webster how the police have no idea who attacked Eva. The truth eventually comes out, as a confession is made.
Sam's guilt is said to shatter the family, given her stepmother Leanne Battersby is Eva's sister. As the families struggle to come to terms with what really happened, it could change everything.
Does Eva survive?
Eva is not mentioned at all in terms of speaking or being awake, with Corrie seemingly trying to keep her fate under wraps. However, the spoilers for the entire week refer to Eva's "attack", with nothing to suggest she has died. It would seem, by the wording of the spoilers, this is an attack and not a death or murder.
