Christina Boyd made a disturbing discovery about her late daughter Rachel on Coronation Street on Friday, and it could finally expose the truth about Richie and Lucy.
An unnerving scene in Friday's episode could turn the storyline on its head, with everything characters and fans thought they knew potentially being completely wrong.
Video evidence contradicts abuse claims
So far, it has been revealed that Richie is in prison for murdering his wife Rachel, which he says was self-defence. Richie told the police that he lashed out because Rachel abused him. Their young daughter Lucy backed this claim, and it has even been hinted that Lucy is the one who killed her mum.
But video evidence seen by Rachel's mother Christina Boyd suggested a completely different version of events, prompting her to vow to take action and expose the truth. Lucy was watching a family video of herself dancing, with Rachel in the background smiling.
Suddenly, Richie comes into shot and as he approaches, Rachel shudders and her face drops. Richie says something in her ear and she looks panicked and scared, before stopping herself from crying.
Christina and George vow to save Lucy
Christina told all of this to her partner George Shuttleworth, and they agreed something was not adding up about "abusive" Rachel. Describing the video, Christina said: "He walks over and whispers something, and her face drops and she's absolutely stricken."
George told her: "That doesn't sound right," to which she replied: "It gives me the chills cos Rachel is just completely haunted, and you know what it reminded me of? Todd. It was just awful."
George then said: "And that basically confirms what we suspected." Christina added: "I think that that monster was abusing my daughter and then I think that he killed her. He's toxic, and I have to do everything in my power to protect that child from him."
What really happened to Rachel?
So Christina and George have exposed that Rachel was NOT abusing Richie, and despite Lucy's claims it was Rachel who was possibly the victim. George and Christina have vowed to save Lucy and expose the truth about what happened to Rachel.
This could rule out the self-defence claims and the abuse claims Richie made and Lucy backed, regardless of who killed her. It would mean both Lucy and Richie are lying.
Coronation Street airs weeknights at 8:30pm on ITV1 and ITV X.
