Carl Webster has been unmasked as the driver who hit Tyrone Dobbs and left him for dead in a shocking twist on Coronation Street. The mechanic, who has been hiding a series of dark secrets, was seen in a flashback setting fire to the car used in the hit-and-run.
Earlier episodes had suggested that teenagers Brody and Dylan might be responsible for the crash that left Tyrone seriously injured. However, it was revealed that Brody suffered a seizure at the time, and both teens were at the hospital when the incident occurred, clearing them of suspicion.
Carl, who has been sleeping with his brother Kevin's wife Abi Franklin and running a dodgy scheme from Kevin's garage, had lured Brody and Dylan into stealing cars. He confronted them about the crash, but the truth came out in Monday's episode.
Despite knowing he was the culprit, Carl has been feigning support for Tyrone and lying to his face. Fans are now questioning whether he would have let Dylan take the blame for his crime, and whether his desperation to cover his tracks will put other residents at risk.
Coronation Street airs Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
