Tyrone Dobbs is about to lose a parent, but gain another, as a massive bombshell drops on Coronation Street. His daughters Hope Stape and Ruby Dobbs are to blame for the dramatic reunion.
Long-Lost Father Ross Wilkes Arrives
Tyrone, played by Alan Halsall, has a complicated family history. He grew up under the questionable adoptive care of Jackie and Darren Dobbs, and didn't meet his estranged mother Cassie Plumer until 2023. Cassie, a former drug addict, abandoned him at a police station when he was a baby. Eventually, she cleaned up her act and became the mother Tyrone needed, delighting viewers as the Queen of Street Cars Switchboards and forming a warm relationship with Steve McDonald.
However, Cassie is set to leave the ITV soap this year as actress Claire Sweeney departs to star in a production of Annie! the musical. Now, Tyrone's long-lost father Ross Wilkes, played by veteran EastEnders and The Bill actor Ian Burfield, enters his life.
Hope and Ruby's Meddling
Coronation Street boss Kate Brooks teased Ross's arrival earlier this year: 'He comes into the show. He comes into the world of Fiz and Tyrone. Tyrone's in the mindset of “I’m in my 40s, I’ve survived this long without a dad.” The dad is very keen to connect with Tyrone.'
In a sneak peek video, during a dinner at the Bistro, Hope and Ruby surprise their dad by revealing they took some of Tyrone's DNA and sent it to a website for testing. Not only that, but the mischievous girls messaged Ross pretending to be Tyrone, leading Ross to believe Ty wants to meet up. Ross then enters the Bistro, and Ruby proudly announces: 'Say hello to Daddy!'
Impact on Tyrone and Fiz
Tyrone is left utterly blown away by the revelation. The storyline is set to shine a spotlight on Fiz and Tyrone as a couple and their family dynamic, as Ross makes eyes at one of the residents and a potential relationship begins.
