Coronation Street Star's Game of Thrones Role Revealed

Junade Khan, known for playing Idris Nazir on Coronation Street, has a surprising past role in the hit HBO series Game of Thrones. The 44-year-old actor appeared as a Dothraki Bloodrider in three episodes back in 2016, sharing behind-the-scenes snaps on social media at the time.

From Westeros to Weatherfield

Khan made his debut on the Coronation Street cobbles in May as the latest addition to the Nazir family. His character quickly became embroiled in a romance with Leanne Battersby and brought Brody Michaelis into his business fold. In recent episodes, Idris faced criticism after Abi Webster discovered he was her landlord and had been avoiding her calls. The situation worsened when black mould was found in young Alfie's bedroom, leading to the child being rushed to A&E.

Prior to Coronation Street, Khan built an impressive list of TV credits. He played Ash Roy in Hollyoaks from 2008 to 2009, DS Khan in the BBC series Better, and DS Matthews in Emmerdale last year. His Game of Thrones stint as a Dothraki Bloodrider remains a standout role for many fans.

Family of Performers

Khan is not the only famous person in his household. He is married to wife Gem, a presenter and singer, and the couple recently celebrated their tenth wedding anniversary. Together, they run PopGems Academy, an award-winning performing arts school. The pair share two young children: a daughter named Alara-Star and a son called Pacino. Both children have followed in their father's footsteps as child actors.

Speaking ahead of his Coronation Street debut earlier this year, Khan said: "My mum and mother-in-law watch Coronation Street avidly, so they're very excited. And my kids are actually on screen more than me! My daughter worked with Angelina Jolie in a film called Anxious People and did a Ridley Scott film, and my little boy has done a Marvel film and Waffle the Wonder Dog. So now there's me in Corrie - it's all good!"

What's Next for Idris?

With Idris Nazir now firmly in the spotlight on the cobbles, viewers are keen to see how his storyline unfolds. Coronation Street airs weeknights at 8:30pm on ITV and ITV X.
