Jodie Ramsey, the mysterious long-lost sister of Shona Platt, looks set to be finally exposed for her lies on Coronation Street. Played by Olivia Frances Brown, the character has baffled viewers with her bizarre behaviour since arriving in Weatherfield.
Since her debut, Jodie has been seen stealing items from neighbours and keeping them in a trinket box. She later turned up at the hospital where her sick niece Harper was staying, pretending to be her mother, and tried to seduce David Platt when they were alone.
More recently, Jodie struck up a relationship with schoolteacher Daniel Osbourne, but was exposed as the anonymous troll “Truthteller” who spread rumours about him online. Daniel threw her out, but Jodie has since returned to the Platt household.
Spoilers reveal that David will finally rumble Jodie in the coming weeks. Unable to find Harper’s five-month milestone card, he misses the baby’s photo shoot at the hospital. A gutted Shona returns home, and David accuses Jodie of stealing the card.
Viewers have taken to social media to express their frustration. One wrote: “Can someone explain the point of this character to me? Nearly half a year on the show and all she’s done is cause bits of trouble for random characters with no real motive.” Another said: “Used to like Jodie but she’s one manipulative b****.”
Coronation Street airs Monday to Friday at 8:30pm on ITV1 and is available to stream from 7am on ITVX.
