Next week, son Joseph (Will Flanagan) passes his school report to Chesney and Gemma before making a swift exit. They are shocked to learn that Joseph frequently submits his homework late. Later, Gemma complains to her mother Bernie (Jane Hazlegrove) that Joseph is struggling because it is virtually impossible for him to focus at home with five children. She can no longer cover Joseph's school fees. In a devastating turn of events, Chesney reveals to Gemma he has been considering applying for a loan to cover the fees. Bernie is appalled at the prospect of them falling into debt.
