Coronation Street Fans Spot 'Glaring Error' in Roy Cropper Hallucination Storyline

Coronation Street viewers have pointed out a 'glaring error' in the soap's latest storyline, which sees teenager Sam Blakeman hallucinating an evil version of beloved character Roy Cropper. While the experimental plot has been praised for showcasing David Neilson's acting range, fans question why no one on the busy Weatherfield street has noticed Sam talking to himself at full volume.

In recent episodes, Sam (Jude Riordan) has been suffering from psychosis after being bullied by teacher Megan Walsh. His hallucinations of Roy have become increasingly sinister, with the imaginary Roy urging Sam to take violent action against Will Driscoll, who was involved in the bullying. The vision of Roy has been seen walking down the street with Sam and appearing in school corridors, yet no other characters have intervened.

Taking to social media, one fan wrote: 'How has not a single person on that permanently busy street noticed Sam talking to himself at full volume?' Another added: 'It's odd, and it doesn't fit with what Coronation Street is meant to be. The biggest glaring error is that Sam seems to be talking to himself out loud constantly and not one person has noticed.'

Despite the plot hole, many viewers have praised David Neilson's performance as the malevolent hallucination. One fan commented: 'David Neilson must be relishing the opportunity to show his acting chops. He is bloody magnificent as evil Roy.' Another said: 'Has David Neilson ever played a villain before? Because he does it well!'

Coronation Street continues Monday to Friday at 8:30pm on ITV.
