Coronation Street: Christina Boyd's Secret Exposed, Fans Plea

Christina Boyd's Secret Finally Revealed on Coronation Street

The long-running ITV soap Coronation Street finally exposed the reason behind Christina Boyd's suspicious behaviour, leaving fans making a desperate plea for her relationship with George Shuttleworth to continue. Christina returned to Weatherfield at the end of last summer, having last been seen earlier that year when she was double-crossed by her daughter, Daisy Midgeley. Since her return, she grew close to George, whose romance with Jenny Connor had fizzled out, leading Jenny to leave the cobbles.

Viewers' Suspicions Build Over Recent Weeks

For weeks, Corrie viewers shared their suspicions about Christina's actions, fearing it could risk her relationship with George. Her whereabouts on the night of Theo Silverton's murder—for which she was a suspect before Sarah Platt was revealed as responsible—were never fully explained. In the episode aired on July 6, Summer Spellman tried to avoid George and Christina in the Rovers before Christina convinced her to join them at home. George apologised profusely to Summer for ever suspecting her of murder, after his statement to the police led to her arrest and wrongful charge. As Summer appeared ready to move on, Christina headed to make tea, but her phone vibrated, and she quickly killed the call when she saw who it was. Later, George's sister Glenda saw Christina having a hurried exchange with a car driver on Victoria Street.

Glenda Uncovers the Truth

During the July 8 episode, Glenda informed George of her concerns. While George was dismissive, Glenda invited Christina for lunch at Roy's Rolls. When Christina arrived with shopping bags, Glenda questioned her about her spending. After Christina went to the loo, Glenda found a credit card statement in Mary Taylor's name in Christina's handbag. The truth came out in the July 10 episode: after Glenda expressed her concerns, George followed Christina to the precinct and saw her embracing another man, Lenny, her ex-husband. George demanded answers, and Christina promised to tell the full truth. At the Rovers, she admitted to a spending addiction. She had set up a credit card in Lenny's name, and after he found out, she began using a card in Mary's name. George attended a group addiction meeting with Christina at the community centre, and later, she had to come clean to Mary and Glenda, who was also targeted for a card in her name.
