Coronation Street has been taken off air tonight as part of a major schedule shake-up on ITV. The Tuesday episode of the soap has been replaced by live coverage of the Women's European Qualifiers from the Hill Dickinson Stadium. This means both Emmerdale and Coronation Street have been cancelled for the evening.
Coverage begins at 7.30pm on ITV1 and ITVX and lasts until 10.25pm. The Lionesses face Ukraine with an 8pm kick-off time at the stadium in Liverpool.
Further Schedule Changes This Week
On Wednesday, the soaps have been moved earlier by one hour to make space for ITV's coverage of the World Cup. England faces Costa Rica in a friendly match live from the Inter&Co Stadium in Orlando, Florida.
Both Corrie and Emmerdale have also been cancelled on Thursday evening due to the FIFA World Cup Opening ceremony, followed by Mexico vs South Africa.
Return to Normal on Friday
Soap fans will be pleased to know that both shows return on Friday evening. Viewers can settle in for a night of drama in the Dales, followed by even more chaos in Weatherfield in two hour-long broadcasts at 8pm and 9pm.
The official Coronation Street and Emmerdale accounts issued a post on social media to mark the schedule changes. Sharing this week's TV schedule, the post said: "Heads up! Here's where to find us this week. Don't forget, you can catch us at 7am on ITVX and YouTube."
Fan Reactions
Hundreds of disappointed soap fans took to the comments to express their frustration. One fan said: "Please stop disrupting the schedule you have many dedicated football channels." A second wrote: "Why do the people who love their soaps always get disrupted. Put football on another channel." A third said: "Sick of all this re scheduling" and a fourth added: "Not sure why episodes can't just go on ITVX and we can watch them there instead."
