Typically, Emmerdale broadcasts at 8pm and Coronation Street at 8:30pm on weekday evenings. However, on Tuesday, ITV will instead broadcast the Spain vs France match from 7pm. Meanwhile, the BBC will cover England's semi-final clash with Argentina on Wednesday.
A source at ITV confirmed the changes, stating that the schedule adjustment is necessary to accommodate the live football coverage. Fans will need to wait an extra day to catch up on the latest drama in the Dales and on the cobbles.
Emmerdale Cast Departure
This schedule change comes as long-serving Emmerdale actor Jack Downham, who plays Noah Dingle, is reportedly set to leave the soap after 17 years. According to a report in The Sun, Downham has already filmed his final scenes and will depart in the coming weeks. The departure is part of cost-saving measures affecting the Dingle family.
A source told the publication: "Jack is looking at the positives though and is hopeful about future opportunities."
Jack Downham Reflects on His Role
Speaking to Inside Soap in 2021, Downham shared his experiences growing up on screen. "I've loved it," he said. "It's quite strange to be around adults all the time, but I think it's helped me mature in a lot of ways."
He added: "On the other hand, I've missed out on my fair share of events and things with friends my own age, but it's all part and parcel of having such a great opportunity. The constant drama is a great part of it. There's always something going on. Plus, everyone who plays a part in the Dingle family is so nice to work with. I've definitely learnt so much from Emma (Atkins) and she's always looked after me."
