Coronation Street and Emmerdale Cancelled Tonight for World Cup

Coronation Street and Emmerdale have been cancelled tonight as ITV1 adjusts its schedule for FIFA World Cup 2026 coverage. The football tournament, which began last month, has forced the soaps to take a backseat from their usual weeknight slots.

Tonight's Schedule Changes

Coverage of France vs Morocco starts at 8pm on ITV1, with kick-off at 9pm. Consequently, neither Emmerdale nor Coronation Street will air in their regular time slots. Emmerdale typically airs at 8pm, and Coronation Street follows at 9pm for an hour-long episode.

ITV has confirmed that both soaps will return on Friday. The network teased upcoming storylines: in Emmerdale, Lewis and Nicola are shocked to find the cafe ransacked, Billy comforts Gabby, and Kev pleads his case. In Coronation Street, Hope and Ruby inform Tyrone they have traced his father, George follows Christina to a covert meeting, and Abi hires Adam in her fight against Idris.
