Coronation Street Airs Sunday Night In ITV Schedule Change

Coronation Street will air tonight on ITV1 in a major schedule shake-up. The soap usually airs weekdays, so it will come as a surprise to viewers that it has been added to the schedule on a Sunday (July 26) evening.

The schedule has been back to normal following endless cancellations due to coverage of the FIFA World Cup 2026 on ITV. The extra episode has been scheduled during a dramatic time on the cobbles, as Sarah Platt (Tina O'Brien) has been arrested for Theo Silverton's (James Cartwright) murder.

Sunday Soap Schedule

Coronation Street airs tonight at 8.30pm, following Emmerdale's half-an-hour slot. The description for tonight's episode of Emmerdale reads: "Gabby has a medical check-up after collapsing, while Kev's mate Steve thinks the village is a gold mine." Over in Weatherfield, the description said: "Sarah tips off David and Shona about Jodie's box of secrets."

Plot Developments

Having found out from Kit that it was Jodie who attacked Sarah, David visits Sarah in prison. It's been a jam-packed time on the Manchester street as Sarah was arrested by DS Lisa Swain earlier this week. The girlfriend of police detective Kit Green was put in handcuffs and taken to the station. Sarah was arrested on suspicion of murder, after they found Theo's blood on her clothes.

The storyline is set to continue for a number of weeks as Sarah remains in prison. The details surrounding what else happened on the night of Theo's death will also unravel.

Next Week's Spoilers

In next week's spoilers, an angry Shona confronts Jodie after finding out from Kit that it was her who attacked Sarah. They visit Sarah in prison and she tells them about Jodie’s trinket box. But will they be able to find it? Later on, with David and Shona having gone to bed, Lily tiptoes downstairs in search of her console. She reaches under the sofa and pulls out Jodie’s trinket box.

Meanwhile, Maria wakes up with a hangover. Gary urges her to pull a sickie and suggests they do something nice together. Spotting them, David is furious at her for swinging the lead, pointing out that he had to close the salon while he visited Sarah in prison. Asserting that Sarah is where she belongs, Maria angrily stalks off.

Coronation Street airs tonight at 8.30pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
