Yellowstone star Cole Hauser has landed a major role in a new Bourne-style thriller for Prime Video. The actor, best known for playing Rip Wheeler in the hit Paramount drama, will star alongside Morgan Freeman in the upcoming film 'Muti'.
The murder mystery thriller is directed by George Gallo, who wrote the scripts for Michael Bay's 'Bad Boys' and the comedy-action film 'Midnight Run'. Hauser will play Detective Boyd, a man unable to process his daughter's death, who hunts a serial killer using a brutal tribal method of murder known as Muti.
Freeman will portray Professor Mackles, an anthropologist with a horrific secret. The synopsis teases: 'The line between sanity and madness thins as Boyd goes deeper into the killer’s world.' The film also stars Peter Stormare and former NFL player Vernon Davis.
Producer Andrea Iervolino said: 'A high level of intelligence and sophistication underpins the tension and intensity of Muti. Having Morgan and Cole playing off one another keeps the dial up in unrelenting fashion throughout the twisting ride.'
Hauser has also lined up the action film 'Panama' with Mel Gibson, set for release later this year. Meanwhile, Yellowstone season four is expected to premiere in late 2021, with work already underway on season five.
