Clive Owen, the beloved star of Our Yorkshire Farm, has offered a candid update about his current relationship with ex-wife Amanda Owen as they navigate life post-separation while continuing to run their farm together. The revelation came during Monday night's episode of the new Channel 4 series, Our Farm Next Door, which follows the Owen family's ongoing adventures.
Unconventional Arrangement Working 'Alright'
During a conversation about weather conditions affecting their crops, Clive reflected on the surprising success of their post-marriage dynamic. "Me and Amanda, for some crazy reason, it has worked out alright," the farmer shared with characteristic Yorkshire pragmatism. "We are not together, but we can keep things going to suit everybody, and that is what we intend to do."
Amanda echoed this sentiment, adding her perspective on their current situation. "Things are good, and I think being busy plays a huge part in keeping everybody's focus," she explained, highlighting how their shared responsibilities on the farm help maintain family harmony despite their changed relationship status.
Retirement Plans and Passing the Baton
The episode also featured Clive making what he described as a "sad admission" about his future on the farm as he approaches his seventieth birthday. "It is a young fellas' game," Clive candidly admitted, discussing his retirement plans and desire to "pass the baton" to the next generation.
"I am almost 70 now, so I have got to think about what comes next," Clive revealed. "It is something the family are discussing at the moment to see where the future lies for everyone. It is nice for me to pass on my shears," he added with a laugh, referencing the symbolic handing over of farming duties.
Family Future Discussions
The programme showed Clive confessing he's trying to avoid sheep shearing duties this season. "We are just beginning to shear sheep. I think Amanda is going to shear and Milo a bit later, and I am not if I can avoid it," he admitted during the episode.
Meanwhile, Miles Owen, the eldest child now working on the farm, revealed his own agricultural aspirations. "I am the eldest here now on the farm, so now, a lot of the pressure is on me, you could say, but it is just one of those things," Miles shared. "I hadn't thought about the future and what I'd wanna do that far yet, but definitely something with agriculture. But there is a lot more agriculture in the world than just hill farms."
Continuing Farm Renovations
The new series continues to document the family's efforts to renovate their old farmhouse, Anty John's, while managing their substantial farming operations and raising their nine children. Clive reflected on the uncertainty of what lies ahead, stating, "What the future holds, you can never quite be sure."
Our Farm Next Door provides viewers with an intimate look at how this famous farming family is navigating both personal and professional transitions while maintaining their commitment to Yorkshire farming traditions and family unity.
