Claudia Winkleman Reveals Secret Traitor Selection Process

Claudia Winkleman has lifted the lid on how The Traitors are chosen for the BBC reality show. The 52-year-old presenter disclosed that she is part of a small panel that decides which contestants become Traitors after speaking with each participant in the castle.

Speaking at a Q&A ahead of the third series, Winkleman explained that she is not the sole decision-maker. 'I'm not a goddess and I don't choose them by myself,' she said, adding that five or six people take part in the stressful selection process. 'I'm just the smallest voice in the room,' she confessed.

The current series saw Minah, Linda and Armani picked as Traitors in the first episode. Winkleman hinted at an emotional finale, saying: 'I always cry at the end. If I didn't, something would be off.' Reports suggest she was left in tears during a particularly difficult banishment in the final weeks.

Meanwhile, banished contestant Kas Ahmed revealed that his fellow players apologised after learning he was a Faithful. He told the Mirror: 'As soon as I left, everybody texted me and said we feel so awful and apologised.' He added that he understood it was just part of the game.
