Jeremy Clarkson has apologised after sparking health concerns among fans who spotted a bandage on his wrist in a promotional video. The 64-year-old former Top Gear host was seen with a dressing while discussing book recommendations on social media, promoting his upcoming release Diddly Squat: Home to Roost.
Fans quickly noticed the bandage and flooded the comments with questions. One wrote: “How’d you hurt your wrist Jezza?” Another speculated: “What happened to your hand? That's a suspicious looking bandage.” A third user suggested: “Wrist injury is worrying, tanline on his other wrist too…” Some even accused Clarkson of a publicity stunt, with one commenter saying: “Now the rumours will start from that strategically placed plaster… this fella knows how to play the PR game.”
Clarkson later addressed the concerns, apologising and explaining the injury was minor. He did not provide further details but reassured fans he was fine. The incident comes after Clarkson also stirred controversy by joking about drink-driving while filming the final episode of The Grand Tour in Zimbabwe.
During a Q&A session, Clarkson admitted to consuming alcohol on a boat crossing Lake Kariba, then driving the next day. He said: “Well I'm duty-bound to tell you there was a three-day gap between arriving and setting off - but there wasn't.” The comments have drawn criticism, though Clarkson has not faced legal consequences.
