Period drama The Hardacres will return for a second series on Channel 5, the broadcaster has confirmed. The show, which first aired in October and proved a hit with viewers, will consist of six episodes, matching the length of its debut run.
Produced by Playground, the company behind All Creatures Great and Small, the new season follows the Hardacre family as they settle into Hardacre Hall and turn their attention to reshaping the world around them, with all the ambition, friction and fallout that entails. The first series charted their rise from poverty to staggering wealth and the unexpected twists that money brought.
While the cast for series two has yet to be officially announced, it is expected that leads Claire Cooper, Liam McMahon and Julie Graham will reprise their roles. The renewal was announced alongside other returning favourites for Channel 5, including The Teacher and The Madame Blanc Mysteries.
The channel also unveiled new commissions, such as Imposter, a four-part series set in Australia starring Kym Marsh and Jackie Woodburne, and Cooper and Fry, a detective drama featuring Robert James-Collier and Mandip Gill.

The second series of The Hardacres is expected to air in spring.
