Channel 5 has announced it will drop the award-winning crime drama "Coroner" on its streaming platform this week. The series, which first launched on CBC in Canada in 2019 and ran for four seasons, follows Dr Jenny Cooper, a newly appointed coroner who investigates mysterious deaths in Toronto.
Cast and Story
Serinda Swan, known for playing Karla Dixon in Amazon Prime's Reacher, stars as Jenny Cooper. She is joined by Roger Cross as Det. Donovan "Mac" McAvoy, Ehren Kassam as Jenny's teenage son Ross Kalighi, and Éric Bruneau as Liam Bouchard.
Coroner is based on the bestselling books by Matthew Hall. The first novel in the Jenny Cooper series was published in 2009, with eight books in the series in total. The television adaptation combines intriguing investigations with a powerful personal story, exploring Jenny's struggles with grief, anxiety and single parenthood, giving the procedural format real emotional weight.

The show scored highly on IMDb when it first launched on CBC, with many viewers enjoying the balance between the procedural format and character depth. Release Schedule
Weekly season drops will start on Channel 5 from August 11, with all four seasons available from September 1.
