Channel 5 has confirmed the return of the gripping 2021 mini-series Lie With Me, which will air all episodes this week starting Monday, July 6 at 9pm. The thriller replaces the Australian drama Riptide in the schedule.
Plot and Cast
The series stars Charlie Brooks, best known for playing Janine Butcher on EastEnders from 1999 to 2022, as Anna. Anna is a woman seeking a fresh start for her marriage in Australia, moving with her husband and two young children. They hire a local nanny, but her true intentions are not what they seem.
Anna's husband, Jake Fallmont, is played by Australian actor Brett Tucker, famous for his role as Daniel Fitzgerald on Neighbours from 1992 to 2010. The show was created by Neighbours showrunner Jason Herbison, who also developed other Channel 5 thrillers like The Imposter and Riptide.
Critical Reception
Lie With Me originally aired on Channel 5 in 2021 and later on Paramount+ under the title With Intent for US audiences. It has received positive reviews, with viewers praising its plot twists and surprising conclusion.
One fan on IMDb wrote: "Gripping with a truly surprise ending. I loved this show from start to finish, it really hooks you in by making you think it's going to go one way but then it goes another. Charlie Brooks is excellent and two other actors play their parts well too, at times you feel like you are on all their sides. The ending is quite twisted and I didn't see it coming. Only criticism is it could've been longer."

It's a relationship drama about a woman who seems crazy and neurotic but then you realise she's actually being set up by the people closest to her. Charlie Brooks is excellent, if you've ever seen her in EastEnders this will show a completely different side."
