The first week of Celebrity Traitors has left fans furious at the BBC after Friday's episode (October 2) ended on a cliffhanger, with many viewers convinced that actor Richard E Grant will be the first celebrity banished from the show.
The series began with 21 celebrities entering the Scottish castle, where Richard E Grant and Maya Jama were selected as Traitors before recruiting James Acaster into their ranks. That decision saw journalist Amol Rajan become the first celebrity murdered on the show.
Richard's admission causes suspicion
However, the trio may not last long, as Richard admitted to some of the celebrities that he is in fact a Traitor. While the actor has been trying to cover his tracks ever since, quite a few players voiced his name at the Round Table.
With many viewers expecting Richard to be the first banished from the show, many were annoyed when the episode finished on a cliffhanger. One person fumed on Reddit: "Why do they always insist on these cliffhangers they’re so aggravating."
Fans predict unanimous vote
Another viewer exclaimed: "What do you mean it ended on that cliffhanger. I'm suing." A third person questioned: "How's that deserving of a cliffhanger?" Another fan wrote: "Are we going to wait a week for an obvious Richard banishment?"
In response, one Reddit user suggested: "They couldn't show the votes cause it's gonna be super one sided I bet." Someone else agreed, commenting: "We had to have a cliffhanger … because it’s gonna be unanimous for Richard."
Quite a few fans are certain of Richard's fate, as one boldly wrote: "Richard making history as the first traitor eliminated at the first round table. He asked for it really."
Hannah Fry tipped for murder
Other users have also guessed which Faithful will be murdered the following night. After a claustrophobic buried alive mission, only Jerry Hall and Hannah Fry are vulnerable to being murdered, as Jerry took the pair out of the game and away from a chance of receiving a shield.
Following the Round Table, many fans are sure that Hannah will be the celebrity to be murdered at night after being very vocal at the voting. One viewer wrote: "I'm devastated for Hannah, I'm so glad she had her moment to shine pointing out the "obvious plays" by the Traitors."
Another fan guessed: "Richard banished and Hannah murdered, its so obvious." However, others have theorised that the professor could end up being recruited. One fan said: "I think they’ll murder Jerry with the suspicion about Hannah being recruited. Also with Richard gone, I doubt James or Maya will be defending keeping Jerry."
Fans will need to wait until next week to find out who has been banished and murdered from the Traitors castle.
