ITV's new reality show Celebrity Sabotage has drawn criticism from viewers shortly after its debut on Saturday, March 21. The programme features celebrities such as Joel Dommett, Judi Love, Sam Thompson, and GK Barry sabotaging members of the public who believe they are competing in different reality shows, with the aim of helping them win cash prizes.
In each episode, unwitting participants arrive thinking they are taking part in a new ITV programme, unaware that celebrity saboteurs are hidden in a Mission HQ, monitoring their actions and assigning sabotage tasks. The first episode involved a group of business enthusiasts undertaking challenges under the supervision of Dragons' Den star Sara Davies, with comedian Jo Brand assisting the saboteurs.
Viewers expressed their displeasure on social media, with one calling the show 'as much fun as having a toothache' and another questioning how such programmes get commissioned. A third viewer described it as 'appallingly bad even for ITV'. However, some appreciated the light-hearted nature, with one fan stating it was 'what Saturday night telly should be'.
After two days of sabotage, the participants discovered the celebrities' mischief and were informed they had secured a collective prize of £29,000.
