ITV has confirmed that Coronation Street favourite Eva Price is returning to the cobbles this autumn as the landlady of The Rovers Return. Catherine Tyldesley is set to reprise her role after seven years, alongside two new additions to the cast.
Catherine's final scenes aired in August 2018, but the 41-year-old actress is back on set filming top secret scenes in Weatherfield. She has been joined by actors Aaron McCusker and Pauline McLynn, who will play Eva's partner Ben Driscoll and his interfering mother Maggie.
Eva and Ben will be revealed as the new owners of The Rovers Return in October, putting Eva back behind the bar for the first time since 2018. She will be reunited with her sisters Leanne and Toyah, as well as old friends and neighbours, with the new blended family arriving with 'a suitcase full of secrets'.
Pauline McLynn is best known for playing Mrs Doyle in Father Ted, while Aaron McCusker played Jamie McGuire in Shameless and Jim Hutton in Bohemian Rhapsody. Catherine has appeared in dramas such as Viewpoint and The Good Ship Murder since leaving Corrie in 2018.
Coronation Street producer Kate Brooks said: 'We are beyond thrilled that Eva is returning as the landlady of the Rovers, with her new blended family in tow. The Driscolls do not arrive quietly, so expect big drama, explosive secrets and raucous knees ups galore.'
Catherine's return comes days after Sally Ann Matthews announced she is leaving the soap as Jenny Bradley. Coronation Street airs Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV1.
