Casualty off air until Sept 5 for 40th anniversary double-bill

Casualty is currently off air after the conclusion of its latest boxset, Lethal Legacy, on BBC One. The show will not air its usual Saturday night slot until September, with a special double-bill planned to celebrate 40 years on screen.

The final instalment of Lethal Legacy aired last month, focusing on Flynn Byron’s (Olly Rix) army past, alongside the relationships Dylan Keogh (William Beck) has with son Matty Linlaker (Aron Julius) and friend Stevie Nash (Elinor Lawless). Rash Masum (Neet Mohan) also received positive news, learning he had become a consultant.

Boxset storylines and character arcs

Elsewhere in the emergency department, Rida Amaan (Sarah Seggari) came to terms with her alopecia diagnosis, supported by friend and colleague Jodie Whyte (Anna Chell). Jodie also took on a detective role during the mini-series, becoming passionate about exposing the truth surrounding the local housing development Wyvern Hill.

The show will return on Saturday, September 5 with a special double-bill marking 40 years on our screens. The anniversary event centres on a high-stakes major incident that puts Holby in chaos, with lives hanging in the balance and the ED team pushed to their limits.

Anniversary event and cast departures

A major rescue operation unfolds, forcing impossible life-or-death decisions and testing the courage, resilience and leadership of those at the heart of the hospital. The storyline brings together some of the show’s most beloved characters.

In other Casualty news, it has been reported that Kirsty Mitchell and Sammy T Dobson will leave their roles as Faith Cadogan and Nicole Piper at some point after the anniversary.
