Casualty anniversary trailer reveals St James explosion

A brand new Casualty trailer has been revealed ahead of the show’s 40th anniversary – and things are going to change forever. It was confirmed a few weeks ago that the medical drama will air a special double-bill on September 5 to celebrate 40 years on our screens.

Explosion at St James

In the extended trailer, the Holby ED staff members discover that neighbouring hospital St James is the site of a major explosion. As Holby is thrown into complete chaos, paramedics search through the rubble for bodies at the devastated hospital.

Back in the ED, the team must hold everything together in a large-scale rescue operation, guaranteed to push some of the show’s most beloved characters to their physical and emotional limits.

Beloved Characters in Peril

We already know that Stevie Nash (Elinor Lawless) and Flynn Byron (Olly Rix) will find themselves fighting for survival in a race against time, while Dylan Keogh (William Beck) will battle personal tragedy while trying to lead his team through their darkest hour.

The emotionally charged storyline promises drama on an unprecedented scale, and it’s unlike anything Casualty has tackled before. The anniversary episodes will demonstrate the ambition, storytelling and emotional impact at the heart of the series, while signalling an exciting new chapter for the show.

Cast and New Logo

Alongside Elinor, Olly and Will, Melanie Hill, Barney Walsh, Neet Mohan, Charles Venn, Sammy Dobson, Kirsty Mitchell, Di Botcher, Anna Chell, Sarah Seggari, Michael Stevenson, Milo Clarke, Naomi Wakszlak and Aron Julius will all star in the instalments.

As the new era looms, a new Casualty logo has been shared on social media platforms. The image pays homage to the titles from series 1 of the show, which aired back in 1986. A promo image for the anniversary has also been shared, which features the characters caught right in the middle of the upcoming chaos.

Elsewhere in Casualty news, it was recently reported that Kirsty Mitchell and Sammy Dobson will soon leave their roles as Faith Cadogan and Nicole Piper.
