Charisma Carpenter has confirmed that she will not be returning as Cordelia Chase in the upcoming Buffy the Vampire Slayer reboot, despite fan speculation. In a TikTok video, the actress stated: "I am not in the reboot. I am not in the pilot. I don't even know if the show has been picked up to go to series."
Rumours had intensified following the launch of Carpenter's rewatch podcast, The B**ch Is Back, which some interpreted as a coded hint. She clarified: "It was not intended to sound coded... I have not had a conversation with any of the powers that be to include Cordelia at this point."
The character, originally killed off in the Angel spin-off, could still potentially return, as star and executive producer Sarah Michelle Gellar has previously expressed interest in bringing back deceased characters while leaving room for new stories.
The reboot began production last month, with Gellar reprising her iconic role. She will be joined by Ryan Kiera Armstrong as a new-generation Slayer. The series is yet to be picked up for a full season, but a pilot episode has been tabled.
