Bridgerton star Yerin Ha has spoken candidly about struggling with 'imposter syndrome' after being thrust into the spotlight by the hit Netflix series. The 28-year-old Australian actor plays Sophie Baek, a maid who captures the heart of Benedict Bridgerton (Luke Thompson) in the recently released fourth season.
Ha, who previously appeared in Dune: Prophecy and a Halo adaptation, attended the Actors Awards (formerly the SAG Awards) last weekend, where she presented an award and hosted a party for rising talent. Speaking to Vanity Fair, she admitted: 'It is super anxiety-inducing. My imposter syndrome was flaring up again last night.' To cope, she channels Beyoncé's alter ego Sasha Fierce, saying: 'Sometimes I have to bring her out to make me feel confident.'
Ha described landing the role as a 'real gift' and a 'Cinderella story'. She told the Press Association: 'It really taught me that maybe I had actually limited myself... Through Sophie, I learned that actually you can dream big.'
The fourth season received mixed reviews, with The Independent's Nick Hilton awarding three stars but praising Ha as 'an engaging heroine'. The actor also revealed a mishap during filming: after spending six hours in a bathtub for a scene, she developed hives all over her body due to a combination of baby powder and intimacy wear tape.
